Catalogue entry

Here Turner has produced a series of views of an unidentified building, perhaps a fort or palace, fronted by two towers. A river, possibly the Rhine, can be seen winding past the building in two of the views. Turner has inscribed ‘L[...]f[...]’ below one of the views.
Two of the drawings have been rendered with the sketchbook turned upside down, while the other two are orientated in accordance with the foliation. Three are continued onto the folio opposite (Tate D30668; Turner Bequest CCCIV 20).
Verso:
Blank.
