Compare the 1780 watercolour On the Tiber near Ponte Molle by John Robert Cozens (1752–1797) in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.1 Finberg transcribes C.F. Bell’s comment that this is an ‘exceedingly free rendering’ of Cozens’s subject.2 Another copy from a Cozens watercolour of 1780 is the view near the Porta Pinciana, Rome, on folio 49 recto (D36462).
Blank (laid down).
