Catalogue entry

Eric Shanes’s identification of Hastings from Ore Place is convincing and supersedes Finberg’s suggestion of Winchelsea, subsequently endorsed by Edward Croft-Murray in pencil annotations to a copy of Finberg now in Tate’s Library. There is a closer view of the same group of buildings including the church on folio 58 (D05675). See also folios 55 and 57 (D05672, D05674).
The leaf is splashed with ink or grey wash.
