Catalogue entry

The subject of this vigorous sketch is unidentified, although it is likely to show the rugged terrain of the Peak District, as do many others in this sketchbook. It is unclear whether the page comprises one view, or more likely two, with the upper being a continuation to the left of the lower. The square building at the centre and the smaller building to its right remain elusive. The second of these buildings may recur in the equally rapid sketch on the verso (D22256).
