Catalogue entry

With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled this page with a loose study of hilly terrain. There is no distinguishing landmark to identify this scene although Tate curator Ian Warrell has located some of the sketches in this volume to the region around Dover, and also Calais and Beauvais.1
