Catalogue entry

With the page turned vertically, Turner has inscribed the following in an expansive hand:
130 ____
142        D
             12 Sept
_______
   May 10th
The significance of the figures and dates is unclear, but they appear to be typical notes of Turner’s financial transactions. This is one of a few miscellaneous pages of notes scattered through the sketchbook, as set out in the Introduction.
The blank recto is numbered by John Ruskin in red ink ‘16’ and stamped ‘CCLXXXI – 16’.
Technical notes:
There is offsetting from the soft pencil drawing on folio 15 verso opposite (D27752).
