Catalogue entry

With the page turned vertically with the gutter at the top, Turner made the following notes in ink:
New 3½ pr Cts
      304 . 5 . 8
The end of the first line was interpreted as ‘pr Cts’ by A.J. Finberg (died 1939) and the watercolour and Turner scholar C.F. Bell (died 1966) in undated manuscript notes in copies of Finberg’s 1909 Inventory, amending Finberg’s published reading of ‘V (?O) Cts’.1 The note refers to Turner’s long-term annuity investments at 3½%.
For similar financial notes on preceding pages, see under folio 1 recto (D22323).
