Catalogue entry

For Passy and the old Servoz road, which Turner took towards Mont Blanc and Chamonix, see inside front cover and folios 1 and 54 of this sketchbook (D04393, D04449). The road led up the slopes of the Plateau d’Assy towards Passy. David Hill, in correspondence with the author, has identified the mountains in this sketch.1 For other sketches in this sketchbook made nearby or from the Servoz road, see inside front cover and folios 56–62, 73–5 (D04451–D04459, D04482–D04486).
