Catalogue entry

Swiftly rendered in blunt pencil, Turner depicts what appear to be the same houses lining the left and right banks of a stream at Spa as in the previous folio (Tate D28111; Turner Bequest CCLXXXVII 36a). Two bridges are in view here; shrubs or figures are suggested by a few looped lines in the foreground.
