Catalogue entry

These very roughly rendered sketches, drawn with the book orientated at various angles, depict scenes from the Moselle Valley and castles and fortresses. Turner has inscribed what appears to be a note on the atmospheric effects encountered at a particular moment, writing ‘[Reflective... Light]’ near one of the sketches.
