Catalogue entry

With the page turned vertically, at the outer edge are two sailing ships and a smaller boat, perhaps observed off the coast of Kent, the subject of identified drawings elsewhere in this sketchbook; see the Introduction.
Most of the page is taken up with a partial ground plan of a large building, with a sketch map of its surroundings. The arrangement does not correspond to Canterbury Cathedral and its close (for subjects in the city see under folio 3 recto; D35761). It may represent a large house and its grounds, with at least one road or path, and the disk above may represent a garden feature such as a pond.
