These two sketches depict aspects of Stettin (now Szczecin in Poland). Turner pictures the Church of St James horizontally across the page, with a study of the Ducal Castle and its Octagonal Tower at top right. ‘5’ and ‘W’ are inscribed at top centre along with a number of other illegible inscriptions.
For other sketches of Stettin see Tate D31083–D31093, D31095–D31106; Turner Bequest CCCVII 32a–37a, 38a–44.
