Catalogue entry

This is a continuation of the drawing on folio 40 verso opposite (D04980; Turner Bequest LXXXI 78), under which the principal subject is discussed. The sketch that appears upside–down in the upper part of the design seems to show a cow on a raft and may relate to the watercolour Lake of Geneva, with Mont Blanc from the Lake of about 1805 (Yale Center for British Art, New Haven);1 see under folio 8 verso (D04917; Turner Bequest LXXXI 16).
