Here Turner has dashed off a few notes relating to the study of a ship, probably The Columbus, drawn on the folio opposite (D18373; Turner Bequest CCX 37a). They are transcribed: ‘B[...] B[...]’ | ‘[...] and’ | ‘Black D[...] [...]’ ‘[...]’ and ‘Note the length of Main [...] | 4 ¼ of the Main Top’. The latter inscription refers to the masts of the vessel.
