Catalogue entry

As with the view on folio 195 verso opposite (D08718; Turner Bequest CXXIII 192a), Turner’s viewpoint appears to be on or near the shore at Wilcove, north of Torpoint, Cornwall, looking north up the Hamoaze (the Tamar Estuary) towards Saltash, which also appears on folio 198 recto (D08721; CXXIII 195), on the hillside beyond the moored warships or hulks in the middle distance.
For other views in the Plymouth area in this sketchbook and elsewhere, see under folio 3 verso (D08367).
