Turner Bequest XXXV 31

Catalogue entry

The subject was drawn with the page turned horizontally. The mountaineer and art historian Peter Bicknell1 considered that this is a view looking north-west across Derwentwater from the eastern shore. Turner scholar David Hill places the viewpoint further north, at the Keswick boat-landing. In either case the hills opposite are Causey Pike and Swinside.
