Catalogue entry

For Autun see folios 20, 22 and 23 of this sketchbook (D04412, D04414, D04415). This is one of several sketches made on the next leg of his journey, to Chalon-sur-Saône; see also folios 21, 23 and 24 (D04413, D04415, D04416). Turner’s inscription, meaning ‘Ditto’, refers to the last of these which he labelled ‘Pass above Autun’.
