Catalogue entry

With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner worked a view of wooded hills punctuated by architectural features onto the lower half of this page. Although the scenery is too generic to identify the location definitively, this volume contains multiple views of the countryside in the Île-de-France region around Paris as outlined in the sketchbook Introduction.
