Catalogue entry

Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, this drawing continues on folio 26 recto opposite (D18038), where more sailing boats are seen, with sails set but apparently becalmed. On the skyline in the distance on the present page is East Cowes Castle. For more on studies in this sketchbook relating to the regatta events at Cowes from late July 1827 onwards, see the sketchbook Introduction, and for other views of the castle, see under folio 22 recto (D18030).
