About

As court painter, Anthony van Dyck was largely responsible for creating the glamorous image that surrounds the court of King Charles I. Aileen Ribeiro, Professor of Art History at the Courtauld Institute of Art and specialist in the history of dress, discusses the ways in which van Dyck used fashion and fantasy to evoke a mythical romantic world.
