Curator’s tour: Ruin Lust with Emma Chambers

16 May 2014 at 19.30–21.30

Paul Nash, Pillar and Moon 1932–42. Tate.

Join Ruin Lust curator Emma Chambers for a tour of the exhibition, focusing on artists’ exploration and reimagining of ruins in both cities and the wider landscape in the 20th century, including Paul Nash’s discovery of the surrealist qualities of man-made and natural fragments in the countryside in the 1930s, John Piper’s and Graham Sutherland’s responses to buildings destroyed during the Blitz, and John Latham’s project to redesignate industrial waste heaps as monumental sculpture in the 1970s.
