A new film exploring the erasure of identities, histories and cultures

Sophia Al-Maria (b.1983) is a London-based artist, writer and filmmaker. Through her diverse practice, she addresses the complex impacts of globalisation and issues related to consumerism, technology and the loss of traditional cultures.

Al-Maria will present Beast Type Song, a new film examining the erasure of identities, histories and cultures through colonialism. Presented as an immersive video installation, this will be the latest in Tate Britain’s ongoing Art Now series of free exhibitions showcasing emerging talent and highlighting new developments in British Art.
