In Material (Explore, Connect and Grow)

23 November 2013 at 15.00–18.00
Albert Potrony installation

A drop-in activity for all ages devised by artist Albert Potrony. The concept of Open Studio’s In Material is to create an environment linked to some of the ideas and principles behind both Map for Making and Meet Tate Britain resources, and reference the scale of Alison Wilding’s display in the Duveen Galleries and several of the large abstract sculptural works in the chronological display.

Through a carefully selected assortment of safe materials and shapes, mostly used in construction and outside the art world, In Material encourages families to explore, make connections and re-arrange 2D materials into constantly evolving 3D constructions.

In Material has the potential to become a collaborative installation in which families modify and add to the structures created by previous participants, an ever-evolving construction that can grow as large as the size of the room and the number of participants will allow.
