Paint Club: There’s a ghost in my house

7 March 2014 at 13.00–14.30

Walter Richard Sickert, Minnie Cunningham at the Old Bedford 1892. Tate.

Is it part of contemporary painting’s function to enact a séance with painters of the past, with painting’s history and with collective memory?

Join us for the first of two Paint Club events at Tate Britain. Three artists discuss their relationship with particular paintings on display at Tate Britain during an interactive lunch time event. Audience members are invited to view the chosen works and submit questions and ideas for the panel discussion in advance.

Chaired by Dr Jo Melvin, March’s guest panellists are Andrew Cranston, Dougal McKenzie and Ann-Marie James.

Paint Club was set up by staff and students of University of the Arts London as a research network, open to anyone with an interest in contemporary painting. It provides a forum for the discussion of painting, its context within contemporary art practice and its relationship to research, its own history and other forms of art.
