An opportunity to delve into the networks, connections and relationships of Paul Nash through his exhibited work, archive material and letters.
Beginning in the Taylor Digital Studio, Sarah Fill introduces her extensive research and interest into the work of Paul Nash revealing his use of letter writing and collage to form and maintain relationships that subsequently influenced his practice and the work of his peers. The session moves into the Library & Archive Study Room where you can probe his early and sustained relationships with artists such as Edward Burra, Cecil Collins and Eileen Agar. Focus is also given to Nash’s involvement in the short-lived modernist group Unit One, which attempted the challenging task of connecting contemporary British artists. Investigating the archives offers insight into the many sides of Paul Nash. As he transforms from satirist to solemn romantic, student to mentor, you will hopefully develop a fresh perspective on both the man and his work.
