Join a screening of artist film that focuses on responses to the housing crisis

Taking the current housing crisis as its theme this screening uses artist film and architectural proposals to explore the physical, psychological and social pressures that result from the sense of precarity caused by soaring rents and the increasing impossibility of home ownership for young people in the United Kingdom.

With a particular focus on London, the screening includes work exploring the experience of renting by Lucy Clout and Holly White, work centred around an imminent dystopian city by Lawrence Lek and Laura Yuile and moving image architectural propositions by architect, writer and curator Jack Self.

The screening is followed by a discussion panel focusing on the role of visual artists and cultural workers in communities and in the development of alternative models for urban living. The panel features Jack Self (Real Foundation), Hadrian Garrard (CREATE London) and Nicholas Lobo Brennan, co-founder of the APPARATA architectural practice, chaired by Linsey Young, Curator British Contemporary Art, Tate.
