Since 2020 Tate’s Library and Archive has held Derek Jarman’s archive and personal papers. Deep Blue Love is a small selection of Jarman’s personal archive, publications and printed ephemera relating to his final film Blue (1993). This show and share will reflect on Jarman’s interpretation of colour after losing his vision due to his AIDs diagnosis.
Show and Share invites visitors to explore highlights from the Library and Archive collections. Previous highlights have included letters, sketchbooks, artists’ books, zines, catalogues, ephemera, photographs, and other special collections.
The event coincides with a screening of Jarman’s Blue on the 30th of January at 7pm. Blue will be screened alongside two short films by the artists Luke Fowler and Sarah Wood, with a discussion afterwards.
Seating will be available.
