Join Kamila Shamsie, the award-winning author of seven novels, at the inaugural event for Writers on Art, a new series commissioning the best contemporary writers from around the world to produce new work on art and visual culture. In addition to the public event, this unique, multi-platform series will feature Shamsie's work across Tate in both print and digital form; through an article for Tate Etc. and a digital contribution for the Tate website.
Shamsie's talk will explore how artists such as Zarina Hashmi have explored the power of letter-writing, and the visual representation of texts and lettering more widely. The event will be chaired by the critic, journalist and broadcaster Alex Clark.
