Led by six Irish art-practitioners chosen by Create Ireland, we will examine how socially engaged art and architectural practices can critically engage in questions of spatial justice and influence how we create a sense of place and community in the built environment.
Taking residency within Tate Exchange, the week of activity will include discussions, open studio sessions and workshops, as a way of initiating and developing future creative works.
During this time, the artists will also be part of With For About: Making a Meal of It, which is the fifth Collaborative Arts Partnership Programme (CAPP) Staging Post organised by Heart of Glass in association with Tate Liverpool.

Discussion and Film: Rosie Lynch and Eilís Lavelle from Callan Workhouse Union will be working together in Tate Exchange and sharing their ongoing research which focuses on a project entitled Nimble Spaces. Based in the town of Callan in South-East Ireland, Nimble Spaces developed sixteen homes at three locations through socially engaged art and architecture.

Workshop: What makes a building a home? Homemakers is a series of portraits and conversations with five people who are on a journey over the next couple of years to move into their very own home, surrounded by supportive neighbours. Rosie Lynch from Callan Workhouse Union will be in Tate Exchange taking about Homemakers as well as another project, Making a Meal of It, which will be taking place concurrently in St Helen’s with Heart of Glass.

Film: From 10.00 until 13.30, drop into Tate Exchange to watch Michelle Brown's Risk, a film that addresses the financial crash and recession in Ireland during 2008 set against a game of poker.
Conversation: From 14.00 - 16.00 join artist Michelle Browne, curators Rosie Lynch and Eilís Lavelle from Callan Workhouse Union, artist-architect Blaithin Quinn, and architects Emmett Scanlon and Laurence Lord from Out.Post.Office. for a conversation on place-making.

Workshop: If you are interested in art, architecture and the built environment, join artist and architect Blaithin Quinn from 11.00 - 12.30 for a workshop entitled Boundary Objects. Looking at previous projects, this workshop will explore how a concept can be translated as a multidisciplinary outcome. Film: Watch two films about projects that have encouraged and supported creativity for young people. Shaping Space (2013) and Beyond Pebbledash (2014) looks at two different projects in Galway and Dublin and how artists and architects worked collaboratively with young people to shape the spaces they live in and their cities’ futures.
