Hear writer Owen Hatherley discuss the role of the artist in the urban environment

Using examples from our Fernand Léger exhibition, explore how Léger was influenced by society and the politics of the time in this fascinating talk by Owen Hatherley. Trace Léger's journey from his early cubist works to figurative scenes of popular life. Discover the way his approach to painting developed into a socialist way of working, which sought to 'represent the people'. Take a look at the people who were the subject of Léger's work and uncover how his work was a model for self-consciously socialist art.
