Join us for a discussion of the work of Geta Brătescu (b. 1926) on the occasion of her exhibition at Tate Liverpool, her first solo show in the UK. One of Romania’s most important post-war artists, Brătescu’s work, from the early 1970s to the present day, has remained consistent in her questioning of identity and our place in the world, and her dedication to the drawn line. The speakers will be Magda Radu, curator and art historian at MNAC National Museum of Contemporary Art, Bucharest, Romania, and an expert on Brătescu’s work, and Klara Kemp-Welch, Lecturer in 20th Century Modernism at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, where her research interests include Eastern European experimental art practices. The discussion will be chaired by independent curator Eleanor Clayton, curator of the exhibition.
