Join Dr Chrissy Partheni, Curator of Classical Antiquities, National Museums Liverpool, and Lauren Barnes, Assistant Curator at Tate Liverpool, for a talk exploring the classical collections of National Museums Liverpool that are displayed alongside contemporary artworks in Liverpool Biennial 2016: Ancient Greece. They will uncover the histories of Ancient Greek pottery, as well as the Roman sculptures collected by Henry Blundell and installed in his re-creation of the Pantheon in eighteenth-century Lancashire. Reflecting on the changing role of these objects across the centuries, the talk will also explore their relationships to the contemporary works in the exhibition.
