Drop in to our Clore Learning Studio to explore an exhibition of artworks by Year 5 pupils from Smithdown Primary School.
Pupils were invited to workshops earlier this year led by Liverpool-based artist Victoria Opomu. They were encouraged to explore artwork from the Tate collection to create their own artworks inspired by their experiences of living and growing up in Smithdown Primary’s surrounding neighbourhoods of Toxteth, Edge Hill and Wavertree. Themes in their work include family, identity and journeys.
This residency is supported by Metal in partnership with Tate Liverpool.
As a multi-disciplinary artist and designer, Vicki Opomu creates abstract art that explores the intersection of form, texture, and colour. With a focus on relief printmaking, and laser cut blocks, Vicki employs traditional and innovative techniques to create striking compositions that are at once dynamic and meditative. Her work is informed by a deep appreciation for nature and the natural world and seeks to capture the essence of the organic in an abstract form. Through a process of experimentation and exploration, Vicki Opomu creates work that is both visually striking and emotionally resonant, inviting viewers to engage with the beauty and complexity of the world around them.
