Open Eye Gallery presents: Peter Roehr's Film Montagen

10 December 2014 at 18.00–19.30

Free for Members

Join Tate Liverpool and Open Eye Gallery for a special screening of Peter Roehr's Film Montagen.

Similarly to Andy Warhol and Robert Heinecken, German artist Peter Roehr (1944-68) appropriated sound and footage from adverts and television before altering the image by reogranising the arrnagement of frames, ). Roehr got rid of the individual characteristics of images, sounds and brands by lining them up next to each other with mathematical precision. Often compared to Warhol, his work focused on the elimation of brand identification through the use of repetition, unusual focuses, odd angles and zoom.

Lorenzo Fusi, Director of Open Eye Gallery, will introduce Roehr's work and will lead a Q&A session after the screening of some of Roehr's seminal videos.
