Artist Talk: Time, Space, Dreams and Experience: Susan Hiller in conversation with Christoph Grunenberg
An American who has lived in London since 1973, Susan Hiller works in a variety of media (video, painting, sculpture, sound and moving image installation) to produce art of great emotional depth and cultural insight.
Hiller conducts investigations into the hidden meanings of everyday objects such as popular postcards, monument plaques and photobooth portraits. She is intrigued by the unspoken and the unrecorded and her work reflects the gaps and the overlaps between time and space, dreams and experience.
This exhibition spans Hiller's work from from the early 1970s to the present and includes important examples of her explorations into automatic writing and the unconscious.
