Exploring the lives of young carers

Join Wired Young Carers on a journey that uncovers the challenges, emotional struggles, experiences and what is important to people who live their young lives as a carer. Encounter drawings, photography, poetry and film showcasing the lived experiences that provide an insight into the life of a young carer.

Programme

Tuesday 28 January, 13.00 and 15.00
Thursday 30 January and Saturday 1 February, 11.00, 13.00, 15.00

What is a Young Carer? What does a Young Carer look like? What do they do?
This session will help you to identify young carers, to identify what support is available locally and how the Care Act and Family Act supports Young Carers.

Wednesday 29 January, Friday 31 January and Sunday 2 February, 11.00, 13.00, 15.00
Mental Fitness and Support session
View case studies and discuss the impact of caring on Young Carers. How it may affects their confidence, self-esteem and mental fitness.

National Young Carers Day is on the 30 January 2020.

Wired Young Carers (Warrington) are all aged 18 and under. They care for family members or friends who have a disability, addiction, mental health condition or illness 24/7. National Statics (2011) indicate that 1 in 5 of High School aged children is a Young Carer.

With thanks to Newton and District Rotary Club for funding the Tate Exchange Presentation, Stef Griffiths from Youth Voice Warrington Voluntary Action for supporting the project, Darren Jeffries from Ludivico production company for volunteering his time to produce the film and most importantly Wired Young Carers for the honest, brave, inspiring, insight into their lives.
