Women Mentors with Open Eye Gallery

The Power of Woman as Arts Mentor in Tate Exchange

Take part in activities that celebrate opportunities for women in the arts sector

Open Eye Gallery as part of LOOK Photo Biennial host a week of free talks, workshops and a display of work by women in photography around the themes of mentorship and facilitation of opportunities for women working with and in the arts sector. Inspired by Anna Fox and Karen Knorr’s Fast Forward: Women in Photography project.

Visitors to Tate Exchange will see artworks by Stephanie Wynne and women from Wirral Change, Casey Orr, Carolyn Mendehlson and Anna Fox and Karen Knorr’s current works A Room of Our Own.

Programme

Monday 11 November, 11.00-16.30
Fast Forward: Women in Photography Symposium (mentoring women in the arts)
This mentorship event includes illustrated discussion on the working histories of women photographers. Talks will be from industry experts working as gallery directors, artists, academics and those commissioning new work, which include Anna Fox & Karen Knorr founders of Fast Forward Women in Photography, Anne McNeill, Director of Impressions Gallery, Rebecca McClelland - industry expert and artist Tessa Bunney. Mentoring session

Anna Fox and Karen Knorr will be running a day of women mentoring women as part of Fast Forward: Women in Photography. This opportunity is open to any practitioner who identifies as female. Booking essential via email, liz@openeye.org.uk.

In response to Casey Orr’s Saturday Girls project, currently on display within Tate Exchange, join local female photography students and create your own self portrait inspired by the work on display.

All activities take place in Tate Exchange except the symposium on Monday 11 November takes place in the Studio on the 1st floor at Tate.
