8-14’s Winter Club Visiting artist: Matt Shaw

Calling all 8-14s year olds! 

Are you interested in creating alongside an artist? Are you curious about what happens inside an artist studio? 

8-14’s Winter Club is a four day workshop where you can work with a professional artist making shared artwork alongside other 8-14s year olds.

For this Winter Club, artist Matt Shaw brings his studio to Tate and invites you to join him in improvising with a range of materials to see how together you can manipulate and transform to discover the unknown. Starting each day with a new material, you will be investigating new processes to make structures and sculptures that brought together create something that never could have been imagined at the start of week. There are no rules, just bring your curiosity and see what happens!

On the fourth day, Saturday 20 February, friends, family and members of the public will be invited to a celebratory event to explore the Winter Club’s creations. 

Matt Shaw is a sculptor. Through playful transformation and manipulation of simple materials he likes to explore the range of possibilities that a small selection of materials hold. 

8-14s Winter Club is part of the 8-14s Studio, a drop in session every third Saturday of the month where you can explore different creative ideas and materials.
