BBZ x Tate Exchange A Conversation Between Generations

BBZ x Tate

A round table discussion on the parallels between black British queer art narratives then and now moderated by Imani Robinson, in conversation with Sandra Falase and Dorothea Smartt

A recent resurgence of interest in black art and culture in the UK has resulted in an increased visibility of blackness in arts institutions. We have seen an upsurge in grassroots creative movements that centre black art and experience. However, this is not the first time a resurgence like this has happened.

This open, intergenerational discussion will consider similarities and differences between the past and the present. Speakers will compare struggles and successes and reflect on strategies to sustain momentum and visibility.

Moderated by Imani Robinson from sorryyoufeeluncomfortable collective, in conversation with Sandra Falase and Dorothea Smartt.
