Join author Gabriel Josipovici in conversation about his novel

Gabriel Josipovici will discuss Contre-Jour: A Triptych after Pierre Bonnard with painter Julian Bell, in the light of the Pierre Bonnard’s retrospective. Josipovici's novel is based on the life of Pierre Bonnard. Contre-Jour is a thoughtful and deeply felt piece told in three parts from the perspectives of Bonnard's wife, daughter, and the painter himself.

Biographies

Gabriel Josipovici

Gabriel Josipovici is the author of seventeen novels, three volumes of short stories, eight critical works, and numerous stage and radio plays. He is a regular contributor to the Times Literary Supplement. His plays have been performed throughout Britain and on radio in France and Germany.

Julian Bell

Julian Bell is a painter and author of What is Painting? , Mirror of the World: A New History of Art and the short illustrated survey Bonnard. He also contributes art reviews to the London Review of Books and the New York Review of Books and teaches at the Royal Drawing School.
