Discover the dynamic dialogues artists created between their films and their work in photography, performance, painting and drawing

This is the second screening in the Dóra Maurer and the Béla Balázs Studio film series. It surveys the ways that artists working in and around Budapest’s former Béla Balázs Studio (BBS) integrated film into their wider artistic practice. It includes works by artists Ákos Birkás, Tibor Hajas, Dóra Maurer, Ágnes Háy and Péter Legéndy.

These artists formed part of the neo-avant-garde scene that emerged in Hungary in the mid-1960s. This programme considers the ways in which they expanded the key ideas and methods in their practice through filmmaking.
