FF Projects returns for the third part of its series celebrating contemporary Nigerian culture, taking over The Corner for an evening of music, archives and conversation. This programme forms part of a three-part series celebrating the Nigerian Modernism exhibition at Tate Modern, exploring the enduring influence of mid-20th-century Nigerian modernism on today’s sounds and cultural expression.
As part of Tate’s extended hours, the Nigerian Modernism exhibition will be open during the event, giving visitors the chance to see the show alongside live music and archival presentations.
Live DJ: Kikelomo
British-Nigerian DJ, presenter and curator Kikelomo will be spinning Nigerian psychedelic funk from the 1970s. She has performed across Europe, the US, Brazil and Africa, including at Berlin’s Berghain/Panorama Bar, Dekmantel in the Netherlands, Melt Festival in Germany and Batekoo in Brazil. Kikelomo is a Boiler Room host, Rinse FM resident, and co-founder of Oroko Radio, where she runs workshops and mentoring programmes supporting marginalised communities in music.
Archival Presentation: Bunmi Fabode
Archivist and independent researcher Bunmi Fabode brings her work connecting political science, textiles and cultural histories. Her research, including a recent Fashion Theory publication, explores textiles as both national archives and metaphors for social cohesion. Bunmi will share insights from her research as part of this special evening.
This takeover continues FF Projects’ commitment to showcasing the global exchange of Black art, creating a space where music, research and cultural celebration intersect.
