Discover this dynamic selection of artists’ videos exploring identity and performativity within digital culture

This programme asserts the place of video as a crucial medium for self-representation. It allows artists to have a demonstrable control over how they are imaged, and then to complicate that reception.

Over the past four decades, impressions of the body in artists’ video have been expanded to include far-ranging approaches to storytelling and first-person narrative. The artists in this programme work with performance and the performativity of the everyday. They reflect on the repercussions of pervasive digital cultures and how they shape our common understanding of identity, property and veracity.
