This five-week course takes the Olafur Eliasson: In real life exhibition as a catalyst for experiments in interactive spatial design. Thinking about the museum as a public space, you will ask questions and work together to find design solutions. Over the duration of the course, you will be introduced to basic drawing and model making skills to design and build co-machines. Co-machines are mobile architectural tools that inspire interaction with the city in new ways. Inspired by Eliasson’s engagement with issues of sustainability, we will build with leftover materials from previous Tate exhibitions.
This course is for those interested in learning about experimental design and developing practical skills. No prior experience or knowledge is necessary.
Biography
Nick Green is a spatial designer and educator working in the fields of architecture and urbanism. His collaborative work as part of design collective ON/OFF addresses the relationship between the city and its users through mobile and temporary architecture, film and drawing. He is currently an Associate Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University and Chelsea College of Arts and was a 2018 Arts and Culture Fellow at the University of Exeter.
