Tate Modern Workshop

Community Leadership Workshop With Natalie Bell

6 October 2018 at 13.00–19.00
Tate Neighbours at Tate Exchange

Tate Neighbours at Tate Exchange

Join SE1 community activist Natalie Bell for a weekend of workshops on community leadership, organisation, and diversity

Throughout the summer, Tania Bruguera has been working closely with 21 Tate Neighbours, a group of people living or working near Tate Modern, taking a distinct approach to community programmes through civic responsibility, creating a manifesto and a terms and conditions document. The group has renamed Tate Modern’s Boiler House the Natalie Bell building for a year in honour of this local community activist’s positive contribution to the lives of others in SE1.

Join Natalie for a weekend of workshops on community leadership and organisation at Tate Exchange. All workshops are open to all and free to drop in.

13.00 - Want to set up a local community project?

14.00 - Youth Leadership - Is it really possible?

15.00 - Sustainability of community work in todays climate

16.00 - Diversity versus Equal Opportunity / Inclusion / Exclusion

About Natalie Bell

Natalie Bell is a community activitist who is passionate about community leadership. She has over 20 years of experience working as a volunteer, founder of SE1 United Youth Forum, Threads Fashion programme at Pembury Estate, trustee of several boards in the SE1 area and other parts of London including Hackney and Thamesmead.

In her own words: "I believe in authentic grass roots 'bottom up' community work where individuals move through a ladder of participation and shape their own projects for themselves. I believe in true sustainability and 'win/ win' situations where holistic partnerships and shared agendas between all parts of a neighbourhood can ensure sustainability, especially the days of hand outs have gone. I believe people are human beings and not KPIs and statististics. I believe in focussing on people's strengths and not their weaknesses, not the decifit model."
