Over four sessions philosopher Nigel Warburton explores a range of philosophical issues about art and society, relating them directly to works currently on display in Tate Modern. Involving a mixture of lectures and discussion in the East Room, the course also provides the opportunity to visit the galleries out of hours. No prior knowledge of philosophy or history of art is required. Course sessions will end at 20.15 and will be followed by drinks until 20.45.
Nigel Warburton’s books include The Art Question, A Little History of Philosophy, Philosophy: the Classics, and as editor, a book about photographer Bill Brandt. With David Edmonds he makes the popular podcast Philosophy Bites, which has had over 27 million downloads and is the basis of three books: Philosophy Bites, Philosophy Bites Back, and Philosophy Bites Again.
