Discover the imaginative films of Canadian artist Tamara Henderson in this short film programme

Join us for an evening with Tamara Henderson as she presents the world premiere of Seasons End: Out of Body alongside a selection of previous works. Henderson’s films bridge dreams with everyday life in a surprisingly personal and poetic visual language. The films are as itinerant as she is, often shot in multiple locations during the artist’s frequent travels. Her works are shot with a handheld 16mm camera and edited in camera to preserve their unconscious and associative qualities. Much of her imagery is drawn from her dreams using various recording methods.

Objects are intuitively and performatively assembled and manipulated throughout the films, which include some of the artist’s sculptures among a range of other materials. These choreographies of movement often use hidden ropes and wires to animate objects in a manner akin to puppet theatre.Motifs such as plants, keys, shells and shellfish, fruits, fabric, gloved hands and vessels such as bottles and urns recur throughout these works, often approached in a ritualistic fashion.
