Can it be about us? Art and Alternative Provision Teachers Study Day

Join us to discuss the transformative possibilities of spending time with art for young people

A partner event to the Can it be about us? Art and Alternative Provision Teachers Study Day, The Rub: Art and Alternative Provision invites an extended conversation around the transformative possibilities of spending time with art for young people and particularly those excluded or at risk of exclusion from mainstream education.

Bringing together colleagues from across the cultural and education sectors, The Rub invites a gathering of experience, ideas and pressing questions around the opportunities and challenges of working within/connected to Alternative Provision.

The event will use a carousel format, supporting you to move through a series of creative conversations while enjoying a drink, and providing plenty of opportunity to hear and to share.

Tate will 'host' but not 'lead' the event, which we hope will offer an informal space for reciprocal learning, surfacing and celebrating the range of expertise held in the room and for making connections across our work and experiences.

To foreground the idea of sharing, you are invited to bring a small object – an artwork, thing or everyday item – that in some way connects to your experience/work. The resulting collective ‘display’ will frame our conversation before being gathered and shared to extend the threads of our discussion beyond the event!

You will receive a copy of the publication Can It Be About Us? as our gift to you.
