Through experimenting, repeating, arranging and exploring, children of all ages are invited to uncover techniques that lead to surprising and beautiful outcomes. Along the way, there’s space to question what’s seen as ‘childish’ in art, and to celebrate the value of process, intuition and exploration.
It’s about growing creative confidence and finding beauty in places that may be light-hearted, messy and full of possibility.
About Relaxed Hours
This session is primarily for neurodivergent children and adults, and any other visitors with sensory needs who prefer a more relaxed experience, plus their families, friends and carers. Those who are looking for a playful-yet-still-relaxing hour to start the day can visit the space – just with smaller groups so we can support any additional needs you might have.
Resources will be available on the day including:
- Access Station
- Ear defenders
- A quiet breakout space
- Fewer people in the space and smaller groups
Tate staff will be aware that this is an access hour and will take that into consideration as they look after you and the artwork.
All Tate Modern entrances are step-free. You can enter via the Turbine Hall and into the Natalie Bell Building on Holland Street, or into the Blavatnik Building on Sumner street.
There are lifts to every floor of the Blavatnik and Natalie Bell buildings. Alternatively you can take the stairs.
- Fully accessible toilets are located on every floor on the concourses.
- A quiet room is available to use in the Natalie Bell Building on Level 4.
- Ear defenders can be borrowed from the Ticket desks.
