Celebrate 30 years of Tate St Ives

Tate St Ives opened in June 1993. As a thank you to the community, we are having a series of special events over the weekend.

Highlights include drop-in creative workshops for the family, talks, film screenings, and an introduction to slow looking.

Full programme of events coming soon.

Introduction to Slow Looking

Saturday 24 June at 11.00, 13.30 and 15.30

Be curious, take a longer look at Sol LeWitt’s Wall Drawing #1136 and participate in conversations to generate a deeper understanding and connection with the work. You’ll be amazed at the discoveries you make. These light-hearted sessions are inspired by Look Groups, small gatherings of people who get together regularly in their own communities, to talk about art, artists, and ideas.

Super Sunday Family Festival

Sunday 25 June 11.00–15.00

It’s gallery takeover time for families. Join in with our day of hands-on art and get creative as we celebrate Tate St Ives' 30th birthday.

Enjoy birthday bubbles in the Loggia, create your own collage card and birthday hat. Dance to tunes with the amazing DJ Good Doggy. For extra fun try creative printing and mural making in our Super Sunday Art Studio, inspired by the Casablanca Art School exhibition. Don’t miss out on this jam-packed day of activities!

Tate St Ives is located on Porthmeor Beach. There is a ramp up to the gallery entrance alongside stairs with a handrail.

There are lifts to all Levels of the gallery, or alternatively you can take the stairs.

  • Accessible and standard toilets are on Level 3, next to Gallery 6.
  • A Changing Places toilet is on Level 3, next to Gallery 1.
  • Ear defenders can be borrowed from the information desk.

To help plan your visit to Tate St Ives, have a look at our visual story. It includes photographs and information of what you can expect from a visit to the gallery.
